The Middle

Anyone see the show The Middle? I think the youngest son, Brick Heck is Aspie. His dad may not be far off the spectrum either. Someone who is very smart and who would rather read books (which he seems to absorb like a sponge) instead of play with others.

He is even enrolled in a social skills group! He doesn't relate to people well and often repeats things to himself in a whisper, sort of an echolalia (sp?) kind of thing. I have done this as well.

Arthur Aspie episode

There was an episode of Arthur (cartoon, PBS) that featured a character officially with Asperger's. The 15min long episode, titled "When Carl Met George" can be seen from the links below (via YouTube):

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiJDdg6BDXk

I liked how George was portrayed as different, not with a disability.

Big Bang Theory

Has anyone watched a TV show called the Big Bang Theory? Awesome sitcom. Sheldon Cooper is a stereotypical Aspie, even though he is never actually referred to as Autistic, Aspie, etc. He can't read facial cues or sarcasm, is very particular about any changes in his daily routine, is inflexible and feels a need to be in control all the time, knows facts about everything, doesn't show much emotion, doesn't touch people, uses computers and tech all the time, and has tried to invent a scientific formula for how to make friends.
