Any musicians here?
I am a dysfunctional musican/ Argueably I have been singing since I learned to talk. When I was a kid I had lots of access to musical instruments, but no formal instruction.
Singing is my very first major interest that remains with me today, and also I have been playing the ukulele now for several years...
I am also a songwriter. I am a somewhat neurotic songwriter..as I tend to hang on to songs for years before ever finishing them....and I very seldom record..
Occasionally I play my solo stuff live, but I am so bad about blanking out on stage that the quality of my performances fluctuates wildly.
Also, I help run a venue, and I seldom play outside my own venue.
I am addicted to You Tube videos...my you tube channel is on my profile.
♫♪♬ Right here! Music, music, & music! ♫♪♬
My father is a musician, and I can't remember not having music as a major influence throughout my life.
♫♪♬ In school, I was involved in choir, musicals, region & state competitions (even won a few!)
I played piano, guitar and viola as a child and sang in choir in high school and in college, sometimes soloing. I am a soprano, always wanted to be an alto, but that was not meant to be.
My brother and his son are fascinated by music, as well. My brother has AS traits, and his ex-wife certainly does. It is hard to tell with my nephew though. He is a rabid gamer and definitely has obsessions. My nephew is a talented guitar player, is in a band, etc.
I play piano and I sing. I earned a competitive choir scholarship for undergrad. These days, all I have access to is on-line karaoke (at leas that way, no smoke!). You can find me here:

I am currently learning to play the electric guitar. Rock on! I'm learning: Led Zeppelin- Over the Hills and Far Away. Neil Young-Only Love Can Break your Heart. AC/DC-Highway to Hell
I also play some acoustic guitar- Gibson Epiphone. Beautiful sound!
Music is like a friend who never leaves-I just made that up, aren't I clever...not![]()
MysticSong, you have a lovely voice.
Thank you very much!
I like to write music.
How do you attach a music file to your post??? It's not a picture file.
BTW - how do people put those little musical notes in the text of their posts? They're lovely!
Patch,
We have a Discussion Board here at the forum which addresses all the techy stuff for our Web Developer Lori B. to answer.
The direct link is: AWN Website. Lori will be able to answer your question.
I'm enjoying your posts here on the forum -- have a great weekend!
Thanks for that Sharon.
I play flute. Techanically, I play piano too, and I used to know a little about playing drums and guitar, because my uncle taught us. He out-fited like, 3 bands with all the instruments in his house. One of the highlights with going to his place was going down and bang around on the drums.
But yeah, I have my grade 4 in the Royal Conservatory of Music, and was going to do my grade 6 when I stopped taking lessons at the university. I really should go back and do it. Even though it's been 7 years, I'm sure that with a few lessons and a bit of practice, I'll be able to do it. Apparently I'm very talented at sight-reading, and could keep up with my professors university students, despite barely practicing for 20 minutes a day.
I play though, I don't compose. I tried to play in the band in high school, but really didn't like it. Too noisy, and I didn't make any friends that would have made it worth staying.
huh, I should play some time; it's been months....
Used to play piano, still can if I try. Now I'm a really bad bassist.
Piano player here. Love sight reading. Given unlimited time I would play piano all day and night. I like to sing along to popular songs while I play. I wasn't blessed with a great voice, though, so people tend to leave the room when I do that, lol. That's ok, I do it for me, not them.
I'm trying to get a job as a music teacher. I'm certified to teach, but no jobs are out in NY. *sigh*
Hi Sam!
Hello Sharon :)
I sing... and write some songs. I used to play some piano and trumpet but my hands have gone, and playing instruments is no longer an option :/ sux.
I used to play flute in late elementary through to grade 9 and then switched then to playing saxophone (tenor/alto and baritone) through to high school. Haven't played anything in years, kinda miss it. :)
It is so great to see everyone's talents here!
Music has always been in my family and even now with my own sons, Aeric and Antoine Smith. I am still picking around the keyboard and somewhat singing on tracks with family members. A while back, I gave up my music when my sons father and I divorced to take on a full-time family life as a single mother in 1995. Recently, one of my sons Antoine talked me back into composing my own music. If you would like to check out my musical life, you can at: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=2576093....
I wish all the best.

I played flute in primary school...I still have my flute, but haven't played in years! This year I started to learn piano, and composed my first song yesterday (see http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/d46d624f9c374e89839ca8643753083f65784ef5 - press P on your computer keyboard to listen to it). I've also been singing for as long as I can remember and have had about 6 months of vocal coaching in the past. I've performed in a couple of musicals, which I just love so much. I play my great-great-aunt's piano which she had shipped from Germany to Australia over 100 years ago. It's such a gorgeous instrument and I love to play it.
I play viola and string bass. I've also dabbled in violin and cello some in the past.

I used to sing a lot, where ever I could, but my voice went flat in 10th grade after I was very sick. Sad, because I had an AWESOME range back then.
