Be a freelancer, start a business, or work in a workplace someone else owns?
I got pretty upset when I read this: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/aspergers-diary/201107/15-ways-exclu...
The author said nothing wrong, because for me all points were true or highly similar to what I have experienced. The socially strong win.
I am not going to get angry when I have really had tears about the work "environment" thing. The article says some of it: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/aspergers-diary/201107/15-ways-exclu...
I chose to start my own business so I could create an environment I can thrive in. My staff know I am on the spectrum, so they accommodate and I, in turn, accommmodate them.

Thanks for the link. Glad to hear you are doing so well! I started my own business for the same reason you did. It has taken many years, but it is finally paying off. I was never able to hold a "regular" job for very long, but I am able to do very well when I make my own schedule and choose my own work environment. Hardest challenge for me is the "business" end of running a business because my skills are all technical.
Most employers (and employees for that matter) have no idea what it is like to see the world in a different way and to not understand things that other people don't even need to think about. It would be great if we could all just employ each other!

Hi Eileen, I read Lynne Soraya's post over on Psychology Today. She did a good job writing it from the perspective of employers who are alienating ASD employees. Lynne is on the spectrum as well, and she has a good understanding of spectrum challenges which many on the spectrum face from uncompromising employers.
(btw) YOU have an awesome business, and have done fantastic!
