Belated Introduction
Hi Everyone
I joined at the start of this year but never introduced myself.
I'm 26 years old and was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome last year (just before my 26th birthday).
I have a medical degree and postgraduate toxicology qualifications. Eventually I would like to be a combined clinical pharmacologist/toxicologist with some forensic toxicology on the side.
My special interests are pharmacology/toxicology (particularly pharmacokinetics), Rubik's cubes (I have an entire book dedicated to my passion for the cube), creationism (although I tend to be fairly quiet about this interest as some people get quite heated in discussions regarding creation vs evolution), Star Trek (to a lesser degree than the others), and most recently GFCF (gluten free/casein free/yeast free) cooking/baking!
I am currently studying 2 Masters simulateously while doing voluntary research in clinical pharmacology. One of my Masters is in disability studies and I will be doing a dissertation that looks at the experience of depression amongst women with autism spectrum disorders (and how women on the spectrum come to the attention of health services).
I live with another fantastic woman on the spectrum; member "Stargate". Our third housemate is a dopey but lovable German Shepherd named "Power": He is extremely neurotypical.
I live in Adelaide Australia.
My hobbies include drama (Company @ - Autistic Theatre), figure skating (recently returned after 4 years off ice), baking, watching crime shows, playing with Rubik's Cubes and other logic puzzles and writing.
Looking forward to more interesting discussions.
Arlene
Nice to meet you, Arlene! I'm just a Ghan ride north of you, of course. :)
I could never figure out Rubick's Cubes (or maybe I just lack the necessary patience), but I love logic puzzles! Do you get the magazines, or do them online? Which are your favourites?
2 masters degrees simultaneously - WOW! I wish you all the best of luck with it!
Hey Arlene, I have been so accustomed to your posts around the forum that I had not noticed you never introduced yourself. I assumed you had. ![]()
I suppose I will now officially say, "Welcome to AWN!" It has been a pleasure getting to know you over the past few months!
Heh, better late than never! :D
Welcome!

Nice to meet you Arlene, that dissertation sounds like it's going to be quite interesting. I have AS and have had issues with depression, it's something that has factored heavily in my life. I wish you luck with your academic pursuits as you have quite a few and I admire you for it. :)
