Diagnosed after daughter

Hello,

I'm a gen x mom just diagnosed. I strongly suspected since childhood, because I "felt different" and cut off from people. Now I know. Somewhat a relief, but unsettling at the same time. I am an artist, and love to spend time closed off in my studio painting. Always like solitary sports such as skiing, horseback riding, and rollerblading. Socializing with more than 3 people causes me much anxiety; to be honest, I find small talk stupid and a waste of time. Glad to be here among others like me (finally)!

Hello. I agree, small talk is a waste of time. I'd rather be doing something creative. Social events are usually very stressful. I'm about to seek a diagnosis. Welcome.

I was diagnosed after my son (he is now an adult) and I can relate to so much of what you said. Welcome to AWN! Smile

Hi! I just joined. I have a child with autism and I'm about to pursue my own diagnosis (I'm 27 years old). :) Welcome!

I'm starting to pursue my diagnosis too, especially since my daughter's diagnosis came in today.  She's autistic and verbal and absolutely awesome.
