A few words about me...
Hello everyone,
after I've been reading this site for some time I finally decided to create an account, so here I am. ;)
I've come a long way to realize what might have been different with me over the years. Quite a few people have told me that I have autistic traits, yet I was not really interested in taking a deeper look into it, despite the fact that I'm quite skeptical about any kinds of self-diagnoses in the first place. Also, due to a huge lack of knowledge about Autism in general, this chapter was closed for many years. In that time, I have struggled with lots of social difficulties, self-destruction and doubts, with a constant feeling of being misplaced on this planet. There's so much about it, that I won't be able to summarize it in one post.
Things slowly started to change after I came out as gay. After facing several difficulties in my past relationships, I've tried to figure out what went wrong on my end. I've stumbled upon Asperger's by chance; after watching a documentary about Autism, I've read some articles about Autism including Asperger's. It has been quite shocking for me to see how much I could relate to it and as I remembered some comments about my so called "autistic traits" I got scared off at first. I started to read in forums, blogs and had to come to the conclusion that I'm an Aspie. Finally I have also decided to get an official diagnosis later this year, just to have clarity for myself.
Other than that, one of my passions is drawing, I've been doing that since I was a kid. I also have a geeky side, I'm quite into computer stuff. I also love listening to music, though I am very picky since I'm a synaesthete.
So, that's all for now... :)
Welcome anneyce! I see colors and shapes when I listen to music too, much like the iTunes visualizer and/or a Grateful Dead light show. Hours of entertainment :)
Hi anneyce. Welcome to AWN!
Welcome to AWN, anneyce! I've been enjoying your posts here at the forum.

Welcome!
I find synaesthesia fascinating! I've read that it is a lot more common in creative people: artists, musicians, etc. I think I may have a touch of it myself, but only for certain numbers and words. "Fuzzy" is a brown word, and "jagged" is dark green. Individual letters don't have colors for me.
I too am picky about music, and prefer songs without lyrics since I find it difficult to listen to the singing and the instruments at the same time. I really like video game music, especially the theme to the game Tetris.
