I noticed it seems accepted to start a thread on a special interest so I wanted to share some pictures of my newest hamster, Brownie.

he's so cute. It's a short haired golden hampster-syrian variety. I had many hampsters in my childhood. My first one was Furry(long haired blond -syrian varitey, then Henery(short haired black-syrian); then two short haired golden hampsters(Peanutbutter and ButterScoth). My brother had a short haired yellow-syrian varitey(can't remember it name), and then later got two more, and they each gave birth to 7 babies shortly after we got them from the pet store. soooo.... two hampsters quickly turned into 16 hampsters. (I never get females that have been kept with males. I always got males(bomber-butts)LOL. They are little horders. They will stuff their pouches so full that they look redicuous. Mine loved sunflower seeds.

My first hamster was also a golden Syrian, but she passed away a few weeks ago and it was unthinkable to me to not have a little buddy.

I did a lot of research to find a place that actually takes good care of their hamsters; because the local PetSmart is terrible with hamsters. I've actually seen 8 syrians in one small cage with no wheel or hidie. I got my first hamster, Hammie, from a small local place that was perfect but it closed a few months ago. (the owners retired) I was so sad, I used to go every week to that store to look at the hamsters and talk to the lady. She actually lost money on hamsters because she would rescue ones people abandoned and keep them well taken care of even if they were never sold. Anyways, the business I found Brownie at is very clean, the employee in charge of the hamster section knew what she was talking about, and the hamsters were seperated once they became a little old (and always seperated by sex).  I actually wrote them a letter about how impressed I was.

This is (was) Hammie:

Look. Here is more hamster pictures I took (these are older) :

My sister's hamster, Alex.

My cage setup (I've changed the stuff inside, but the two main parts are same) See, this gives the hamster more room to run around.

Another picture of my first hamster, Hammie.
