How do you dress?

Just curious, as I often hear of females not caring about their looks. Then again, I've also heard of so-called Lipstick Aspies.

So tell me - what's yer style?

I'll go: I love dresses, but am a bit of a tom-boy. I buy mostly second hand (except for bras and jeans) and usually go to the men's department. I love flannel tops and thermals, as long as they're not too scratchy or fuzzy. I don't have any major sensory issues, though. I think it's a pretty normal thing. I like big, warm sweatshirts and jeans with the occasional natural rip in the knee. I like a big of a grunge-y style, mostly out of nostalgia from my childhood years. My favorite colors to wear are navy, burgandy, dark green, and black. I also like spots of white, some florals, and the occasional pastels (maybe yellow.) I wear my "apple-smashing" boots for the most part, and hate sneakers.

I have short-ish (it's grown out a bit) brown hair and don't wear alot of make-up. I like a little bit of lip color, but that's pretty much it. I had my ears pierced in the seventh grade.

Annnd that's me.

I tend to live in PJs, Happy pants and big snuggly jumpers or baggy t-shirts.

When I have to look like a doctor (societal expectations suck), I tend to wear as much Navy and White as I can find, but my most comfortable suit jacket at the moment (sensory wise) is actually black.  So I have been putting things that go well with black with the jacket.  Tend to wear very boring shirts when dressing formally.

I love my multicoloured surf shoes!  But of course I can only wear those casually.

At the moment I am working on a pair of overalls with a Rubik's Cube theme!

The overalls sound cool - I haven't worn them in years! If I get this teaching position I interviewed for, I am definately going to invest in a pair or two of jean overalls. They are so cute and I think I could rock 'em with a new young-teacher vibe. Well, classroom aide, but I'm still psyched. There's a five-year-old girl with autism in one of the rooms (not sure if she'd be in mine) who is hyperlexic, just like I was. I so want to meet her!

So you're a doctor?

I pretty much live in knit tops/sweaters and trousers, since I have to work and look professional. I wear button-down shirts and jeans, but not as often because they feel scratchy to me.

I also wear dark colors. They're just more soothing to me.

I prefer to be as comfortable as possible, always!  I will dress appropriately for whatever occasion, but the minute I get home, it's into my comfy clothes!  Anything soft (sensory friendly - no scratching) and loose.

I've learned to go the extra mile (extra time) when shopping for clothes to wear in public.  This way, I can get something appropriate yet as comfortable as possible.  It is worth it, for me!

I'm not now, nor have I ever been, a fashion queen. At home I wear sweat pants and a comfy top. I have wash-and-wear hair and don't do make-up. When I was younger, I did, but it was minimal and, since no one ever showed me how, it was probably pretty badly done. I have never really been aware of what I look like. I wore only skirts and jumpers for awhile, then decided to switch to pants because I was becoming aware that it only separated me from everyone else even more (I think they thought I was some sort of fundamentalist). My job as a special ed assistant doesn't require professional dress, and that's a good thing, because I'm not comfortable in that kind of clothes, and I have a horrible habit of getting food or something on everything I wear.

I'm not a tomboy AT ALL, I'm very feminine in my choice of clothes.  I guess I look hippyish/bohemian, I love love LOVE long gypsy skirts, floaty dresses, faery type clothing, jewelry, flowers, that kind of thing in various shades of pink purple and blue mostly.

I never wear high heels they are sooooooo uncomfortable and I don't follow fashion.  I love dressing like a faery or dishevelled ballerina.  I've tonnes of sensory issues so have to cut out tags and labels and can't bear certain fabrics too itchy/scratchy and I find jeans very uncomfortable and restrictive.  I wear make-up it's like an art form but I never style my hair, it's long and wild and does it's own thing, it looks like a birds nest Laughing

In high school, I seldom brushed my hair. I liked it wild and wavy, though my mother seemed to disagree. Until I cut it short.

I dress comfy at home, I like to dress up when going out though. However, I don't care much about fashion trends, but I like feminine clothing. I tend to choose stuff that I can combine with my other clothes, also color-wise. I don't have many shoes, I'm very picky with them. They need to look nice and be comfy and match with all my clothes. Not an easy task, that's why I have like 4 pairs of summer shoes. ;)

Predominantly I wear tshirt, jeans, sneakers and a hoodie if it's cold.. and I rarely brush my hair - luckily this is hardly noticeable as my hair is quite tame and flat anyway.

I can dress up and don't have huge sensory issues with clothing but don't do this very often.

Oh I forgot to tell that dressing like I want is hard 'cause I have fairly big sensory problems. But I sometimes find stuff that works ^^

Im not very sensitive to fabrics but i cant stand fitted jeans unless they're oversized, and i hand embroider the DROIDX logo onto.my solid tops, most of them. I always like the DROIDX logo showing so everyone can see what i live for. I have an Android tee that says " MY ANDROID EATS APPLES", which i usually wear aroind the house unless i want to show how Android is so.much better than. iOs, which Droids.are more popular than iPhones anx iPad as well.as.iPod. Droid has more to choose from than iOs. Also they're open.source so they're easier to Dev up Apps for. Also i wear sarong skirts when the weather permits. Especially my when i go to church. Cant seem to Swype very well tonight or it might be my DROIDX telling me she's getting.sleepy. i also wear pearls when i dress up. If i dress up.i.have to have the DROIDX logo showing.

I have to keep my hair short due to sensory issues, cuz otherwise my African Grey, Dudley might make a mess in it. He likes pulling your hair in a rough way.
