I'm a railfan, take photos and videos.
Hi all
I know women don't necesserily share the same passion for trains that I do. Infact it is very rare to even find a woman who wouldbe into trains.
However, I have been into trains since I was a young fella. Through my teens I sort of lost interest in them before getting my enthusiasm for them again in my 20s.
A common title for railfans is "trainspotter" but I don't like that as it makes it sound geeky. I prefer the term railfan or rail enthusiast is even better.
I used to take photos, first I had just a standard Sony digital camera. Then a few years ago I upgraded to a Canon 400D Digital SLR.
I keep my photos on fotopic
Also I keep some on Photobucket.

Last year I changed from still photography to film. I bought a nice little Panasonic video camera that has proven to be vey good.
I do keep a YouTube channel...

I dare say I maybe all alone as a rail enthusiast on this forum. That is what I do in my spare time however and I enjoy it immensely.
I'm a railfan without a camera, so I get my fix on YouTube for the most part. I really enjoyed watching your videos, you really know how to handle the camera. I also appreciate that nobody talks in your videos, I find it impossible to watch videos where the person brings along some 12yo who won't shut the hell up.
Thanks for realizing people watch train vids to see trains, not listen to some bratty pipsqueak. :)
I am terrified of trains. I have nightmares about trains. Once, I even had to change seats with my mom, so she could drive over the train tracks, while I was freeking out. There was an engine parked on the tracks too close to the road and the signal was dinging and flashing. I refuse to live anywhere near them, where it can derail and crash. My husband thinks my fear is hilarious and has even stopped on the tracks just to "joke". It was a very MEAN "joke".
Colin, my son is a railfan (loved watching train videos as a toddler) and would have much to talk to you about! We have gone on several driving vacations and try to work in a scenic old train ride, which my son just loves.
Our dream is to take him on the Canadian Rockies run and after that on the Transiberian RR from St Petersburg (we adopted him from Russia) to Beijing and then do some sightseeing in China, where we adopted our daughter.
My son also loves ancient cultures and wants to go to the Mexico City, the Yucatan and Peru and climb about the ruins. We took him to Mesa Verde to see the cliff dwellings, and he was in heaven. That was after the Cumbres and Toltec RR, of course.
it took me a while to figure out what a railfan is. :D
but awesome. I may not be a full out railfan, but I do enjoy watching trains. I live fairly close to the tracks, and find the sound of trains rather comforting.
Riding trains are also fun, if not during the busy periods.
Here are some pics( off of a photo program I have) of trains and rail cars. Thought those who like them would like these pics.

I find trains kind of interesting, as I've lived near them all my life -- I grew up in NW Indiana, which is a huge rail hub, and the house my husband and I just bought is right next to a large railyard. I like to sit and watch them go by with a copy of the ERG to see what they are carrying based on the placards on the sides of the cars, or sometimes to take pictures of them (I took a lot when I was taking an Amtrak train from Seattle to Minnesota, and quite a few when I was taking trains around Japan.)
