"Looking" like I have AS
Tue, 1/4/2011 - 11:51am GMT
I have been told by two different clinicians (a therapist and a psychologist) that I "look" like I have AS. What does that mean? Do I look funny? When I asked the therapist, she said it was just "something about me" and the psychologist said it was "something about the lack of coordination of my facial expressions" for example, the expression in my eyes not matching the expression on the rest of my face. Now I'm feeling all self-conscious about this... (as if I weren't already self-conscious enough as it was...) Help :(

I have been told this before about myself. (that it was obvious I'm on the spectrum.)
I'm not quite sure how to take it, but I suppose it depends on who is saying it and in what context it's being discussed. I've personally never taken offense, but then again, I have had people bully me and insult me, and I never realized it was happening until someone pointed it out to me.
Did you take offense at this comment? As I said earlier, I took it as an observation and was okay with it being said to me.
Also, I have the ability to spot other spectrumites in a crowd. I'm not sure it is just 1 or 2 aspects about the individual which I base my observations on, but rather an overal sense I tend to get?
I don't know if I'm explaining this clearly as my thoughts often become muffled from time to time during my attempts at detailed explanations
