need help with saving an image created on a UPX format, and change it to a JPEG format.
Needing help on how to open a UPX(Ulead Picture Extention) file. I have a photo studio program( Photo Explosion Deluxe 3.0 by Nova Development Corporation-www.novadevelopment.com ) It is a program that a friend bought, and I borrowed. It has 4 discs that you download to your computer ( the fourth is only pics. to use as backrounds). I created a t-shirt design, and It says I can only save it in the format of UPX. When I try to save to JPEG, It gives me a message of "the file format that you have chosen does not support selection and object saving. If you choose to continue, theh selections will not be saved, and all objects will be merged onto the base image. Save your project in the UPX file format to retain your selection and objects. "
then why does it give options to save under other formats such as JPEG, and about 12 others. I tried to right click, copy, and past on paint shop and all that pastes to Paint shop is the original photo that I uploaded to this new photo program, which I used to add words to it. I spent alot of work getting the words on there and I want to be able to print off and save the image. I am feeling quite bummed. It is for a T-shirt contest for our local Autism walk, and I have spent many hours on it so far. I don't have a printer, so I can't just print it off, and I have no idea how to set up my computer to e-mail the image, under the programs "share" option. My computer runs on the "Vista" windows. uggg. PLEASE HELP, as I can't shut the program off till I can at least print it. I don't have the info booklet on how to fully use this program. My Paint shop didn't include adding wording. I need to know how to either share the image by e-mail( so I can e-maiil it to my friend, who has the same program on her computer, and she can print it, or how to save it in the JPEG format.
thanks.
Okay, as I am unfamiliar with the program, I can't give you too many options. But there is one you can try that will work, albeit a little backwards - the screenshot method.
I'm a linux user, so you may have to modify the instructions I'm giving you here, but the idea is the same. Hopefully it makes sense.
Here's what to do:
1.) Center the image (T-Shirt design) on your screen so that nothing is blocking it and it can be clearly seen.
2.) On your keyboard, there should be a button labeled "Prnt Scrn". This does not print a copy of the screen to your printer, but merely copies the image of what is displayed on your screen to the clipboard - similar to what you do when you cut or copy a word or sentence in a MS Word document.
*Note: you may or may not see any action by your computer. This doesn't matter; keep going.
3.) Minimize your photo studio program.
4.) Open MS Paint.
5.) At the top of the screen next to the word file there should be the word "edit". Click it and then click on the word "paste".
*You should now see the image of your desktop, program and T-Shirt design in MS Paint.
We're not done yet.
6.) Select the rectangular cutting tool on the right (among the buttons).
7.) Draw a rectangle around the design that you want to keep.
8.) Go back to the "edit" menu.
9.) select "copy".
10.) I know this sounds redundant, but stick with me. Open up another window of MS Paint (go through your start menu - not through your current window of MS Paint).
11.) Click "edit" and then "paste".
12.) If there is too much white space, try to click and drag it back towards the image.
If you need more tips, just reply to this post.
Good luck!
P.S. - MS Paint should allow you to save it as JPEG.
P.P.S. - Once you've done this and have some free time to explore your photo studio program, try saving it in JPEG anyway. Sometimes the warning message is about a complex feature you may or may not be using for that custom image.
Unfortunately, the only way for most of us to find out if the warning applies to us is to try and save it.
Also, you could save two copies - one as .upx and one as .jpg. For example - a file known as Tshirtaut1:
Save as: Tshirtaut1.upx
Then save again as Tshirtaut2.jpg
And see if file name Tshirtaut2.jpg looks the same (or similar enough) to file name Tshirtaut1.upx.
*This would probably be a simpler solution - but only if the JPEG turned out correctly.
Well, good luck with the contest!
You may want to try out GIMP It is free I use it in my business to do graphic editing. & it has oodles of formats you can save things in, it works a bit like photo shop.
I use GIMP. It's nice; a little complicated, but nice nonetheless.
