OK my interest is poker. Not gambling - just poker. Can't get through the day with out downtiming with it.

I have found the SI's last between 1-4 years and never completely go away. In the past I have been into (in reverse order). I often have more than one running at a time. e.g at the moment I am also interest in U.S. law

- autism (research)

- horse whispering

- science fiction novels/shows

- books

- horses

- the colour purple

Gosh they sound so boring. I tend to get super obsessed, talk about nothing else, research subject depth and width of subject, need to be 'doing it' for 2-8 hours per day.

I am lost without it and get super stressed and emotional.

I struggle in the transition from one SI to the next.

My sons (in reverse order) are

- bakhugan

- warhammer

- gaming

- lego

- buzz lightyear

- rocks

My daughters are

- writing

- egyptian mummification methods

- 542 buses (timetables, look and feel, route etc)

- singing

- stuffed toys

- that french girl in the cartoon arg can't remember the name

IamTorken:  How did you get into poker it in the first place?  I always like to ask that question, because I am always amazed at the colorful stories I hear!

I went through an obsession for several years as a pre-teen (into my teen years) with a consuming focus on solitaire.  (every imaginable way to play solitaire, I probably know!)

Would you believe I saw it on a tv show or something, then did a search on the internet and then whallah!

Mind you I 'thought' about it for about 12 months before if became the irresistable itch I had to scratch.

Pity I am so crap at body language - lol - an essential skill with poker. My problem is I tend to "read" the body language and then think - "nah couldnt be that obvious" and think they mean the opposite - gets me in a lot of trouble. Now I just tend to ignore the body language completely.

It is actually an amazingly intricate and involved game that has so many variations and rules and techniques. Anyway.. don't get me started.

Games can be addictive. I made the mistake of joining a few facebook games and now it HAS to be done every morning as part of my 'wake up' routine. Grrrrr...

My dad is a semi-pro poker player. He went on the Party Poker Millions cruise to Mexico he won his way into a few years ago and met Howard Lederer (spelling?) as well as other pros. He has a cool picture signed by a bunch of them. He studies very intently many books on poker and usually plays omaha hi-lo on Full Tilt.

My favorite pro is Annie Duke.
