What positive role models do you think there are in TV for women and girls on the Autism Spectrum?

I'll put in a vote for the inspirational Dr Temple Grandin. Her story is remarkable, real ambassador for Autism.

I hope I'm not the only one, but I've never heard of Dr. Temple Grandin.  Who is she?

Definitely Bones.  I stopped watching the show after it jumped the shark, but the first couple of seasons are definitely worth checking out, and she's hands-down the best female character with AS traits I've seen on TV.

Nimeni:  Temple Grandin is one of the most successful autistic people in the world as well as one of the most well known.  She is an engineer, professor, inventor and author of many books (e.g. "Thinking in Pictures.")  If you haven't read any of her stuff yet you should.  Plus, she'll be on the AWN Radio today so you should listen in!

I'll have to look into that.  Its always good to have role models that have actually been where you are.

I totally agree about Bones, and another one, if anyone is a soap fan, is Lily on All My Children.  (She is Jackson Montgomery's daughter.)  She hasn't been seen on the show now for quite some time unfortunately, but hopefully they'll have her return soon, maybe for May sweeps.

She is about 19 or 20 years old now; her story was in the foreground for several months about 2 or 3 years ago, when she was a teenager and having typical teenage issues complicated by her ASD; but with her family's help she has been working through them and when we last saw her she was headed to college at MIT--she's highly intelligent.  And also very attractive.
