After this [hopefully] passes, we will need to get on them for coming up with more stringent discipline for breaking the law. Also, better oversight.

As PA has had law in place, it's not followed. Until we come up with a better system to monitor compliance (parent driven), it will continue behind closed doors.

But...the legislation is a start. I'd hate to stall it because we need federal law.

Yes! We need this to pass! As someone who was improperly restrained in a residential placement and ended up with a bruised rib and hip as well as full blwon PTSD for years after the incident (and others) I am all for it passing soon!

Be sure to write your senators and Representatives, you guys! There is no garuntees that this will pass, and the national school administrators union is AGAINST this bill!
