Terror

Does anyone know if it's normal to feel terrified most of the time? I'm finding it increasingly common - especially when someone else does something I (or, at least, my body/brain) finds frightening - to take hours, if not a day or two, to stop feeling terrified.  Is this normal? Or should I check with my mental health person to see if I have an anxiety, or other, problem?

Thanks,

Celeste

Celeste.  I'm not sure what normal is or if it matters, but from your post it seems that you do not like feeling terrified.  It does not feel good.

In addition to checking with a mental health professional, you might find your way to feeling calmer by

Please be gentle with yourself.  I used to constantly have terrifying scenarios replay themselves in my head.  It is much, much better now.

CelesteS, I agree with Natalia.  There are things you can do to help calm yourself.  There is no need to live with a constant feeling of terror.  My counselor helped me get into a mindfulness stress reduction program.  It reallly helped!
