There's no place to discuss trans-specific issues and experiences, is there? The Relationships-section works for ABLG, but not T. Well, when specifically relationship stuff related to being trans, yes. However, there are a lot of autistic trans women. Just sayin'.

Oh, BTW, I'm a transsexual woman from Finland. I'm married to another trans woman. She's from Canada. We're both far from NT, just not officially diagnosed with anything other than OCD and ADHD. Not looking for anyone, but open to a poly relationship.

If you ever need help with computer stuff, I'm your geek. :P

Great idea!  AWN is in the midst of discussing this topic & the best way to include a place on AWN's forum for these discussions. Smile

OK, let me know if I can help. :) And, let us not forget intersex folk, BTW. :)

I think it is a great idea too. I am also a computer geek. Maybe while we're at it we can get that Geek Street forum hopping too ;)

Hi Tuuli,

Thank you very much for speaking up about this.  Like Sharon said, our Board has been communicating and discussing the best way to include a place in the forum for these discussions and how to effectively reciprocate the honor and respect to satisfy everyone's needs to the best of our ability.

At the same time, we're always learning new things from our members, and we absolutely welcome that!  I admit I am still in need to educate myself more on trans-specific and intersex-specific issues and experiences, and I see you as person who would be excellent in teaching and educating not only myself, but to others in the Board as well as the AWN community.

At AWN, we strive to honor and respect every one in the community, and what helps us tremendously is allowing members of the community to have a voice and share their thoughts.  In this area, we can definitely benefit from your feedback and input in regards to how to best include these specific topic areas in the AWN forum.

Once again, we really appreciate you for getting in touch with us, and we look forward to hearing your additional thoughts.

Hi again,

I have some thoughts for this forum, but I find it hard to put it all into words tonight. I'm a bit overloaded, I guess.

I just came here to give you some material you can research to come to know transsexuality and intersexuality as variations of human (mental and) physical form.

First, some terminology:

TRANS - shortform for either transgender or transsexual.

TRANSSEXUAL - an adjective, see below.

CISSEXUAL - the opposite of transsexual.

TRANSSEXUAL PERSON - a person who was (coercively) assigned the wrong sex.

TRANSSEXUAL WOMAN - a woman who was assigned male at birth.

CISSEXUAL WOMAN - a woman who was assigned female at birth.

NOTE: there is no -ed at the end of any of these words.

NOTE2: I don't agree with the Wikipedia article on transsexuality. It is not an ism, for one.

I'm not an intersex expert, so you should ask someone else about that.

I can provide you with links if needed, but, for now, you can do some digging with Google. :)

More to come, don't worry!

~Tuuli~

Oh, I must add that the trans and intersex communities, although somewhat overlapping, have often had fights over stuff. But, then again, there are internal battles in both communities as well. Some call themselves intersex women, men, or something else, and others call themselves people with disorders of sexual development. Many intersex people don't like it when trans people call themselves neurologically intersex.  I don't give a shit what you think I am as long as you treat me as a human being and as a woman. You must realise, though, that, while (most) intersex people are against cutting the healthy genitalia of babies, trans people usually want theirs cut. Intersex folk might not understand trans people's needs in that regard. End rant. :P
